a quick redesign of Batsy...
Looking back on the original Bob Kane works, Batsy's mask has more of a bat, then nowadays. Batman's mask/helmet today reminds me often of Anubis, with the pointed ears and slick shape, especially in the movies...
I also look a bat's and can't find him scary. He's cool as fugg, ...but scary? He could be more frightening, I guess.
Back to the roots, baby!
So I added more bat features to his mask.
The brown for the cape'n cowl are from Paul Pope's "Batman Berlin". The red elements are inspired by Dan Bereton's Batman and the design for "Batman Beyond"....

I'm not really seeing this as Batman, though... I never really got the impression that Bruce Wayne cared weather or not he actually looked like a Bat (just an opinion).
Maybe if Man-Bat decided to become a superhero this is what he would look like...
If you check the very early Batman stuff by Bob Kane himself, you'll see his mask and costume resemble a bat. His ears were more wide and open and his cape was more winglike. So Bruce did actually care.
