I'm pretty sure he already spends enough cleaning up the mess the bad guys leave every time he has to go and take them down. That reminds me, what about all those Batarangs, at least the ones (like the Batman Begins ones) that don't return to him when thrown? I can hardly imagine poor Bruce having to go back to the crime scene after he's done to pick up all his Batarangs. Or maybe the GCPD collects them leaves them at the front desk for him to grab. =P

I have the answer to this, actually, straight from the comics, if you want the low down from someone geek enough to admit that she knows. :) Your first supposition is the correct one, actually; Bruce forges his own batarangs, and as such he has embedded tracking devices inside them. He told Tim Drake/Robin III, "next to rocket fuel for the car, they [batarangs] are our biggest expenditure."  So, as a way to cut down on his costs, he uses the tracking devices to hunt them all down. Usually thty are still *in* whatever they struck--cars, backpacks of fleeing criminals, etc.--and so they help him to find and catch the crooks who were their targets.
He doesn't do it often, about once a month or so, when things are slow enough to allow him the time. Any that the GCPD come across go into evidence storage, which makes it easy for Batman to collect them.  (No one in the department ever expects them to STAY in storage, btw, but they give it a shot anyway)

Awesome. That does make a lot of sense, even though it gives poor Bruce a lot more work, and I'm glad the writers realized this and thought about how Batman and Robin were going to have to solve that problem. Thanks for telling me!

If Batman's not a Libertarian, I'd be highly surpised. He has way too few scruples about sex to be a Republican, and he doesn't seem to have an optimistic enough attitude about the human race to be a Democrat.

Bruce Wayne spent all of that Waynecorp bailout money on a new Batmobile and you know it! He's part of the 1 percent. Worse than Bernie Madoff!

Boy, I think Bruce would even pay taxes on the drug money he'd steal from dealers (after destroying the drugs).

Sad thing is, he needs his tax loopholes to fund the Batcave.

Or, maybe he doesn't pay taxes on his gains from drug dealer raids.

Guys, I really don't think this piece is meant to encourage the "Occupy Wall Street" Movement.

Why would Batman say "Raise My Taxes!"?

I believe some of us are missing the point.

It's funny because the actual creators of Batman would be spinning in their graves at you using a character's likeness to promote something as politically unbalanced as the Occupy Wall Street movement.

You make me sick to use well established properties for your own political motives. Leave icons alone.

I dunno about that. I'm no comics expert, but the two guys who invented Batman were nice Jewish boys from New York who became artists. At least one of them was a college graduate. To me, that sounds pretty liberal.

I'm Jewish and am a college graduate. Since when does being Jewish and going to college make me a liberal?

Well, for over half a century, going back at least through 1940, Jews have statistically been more likely to vote for the Democrat than the Republican for all but one of the presidential elections, and Republicans have been more conservative than Democrats since Teddy Roosevelt. More recently, every Democratic presidential candidate starting with Bill Clinton in 1992 has received over 75% of the Jewish vote.

As for being a college graduate, they are simply once again statistically more likely to vote Democrat, especially if they have a higher degree. Furthermore, politics in colleges is often dominated by liberal movements.

Just based on these numbers, Jewish college graduates from New York City, a very liberal area, just strike me as being potentially liberal.

Hey there...
I'm glad it resonates so well with people. To me some superheroes can be powerful messengers for strong sentiments, because they are embedded in current cities and situations... and they are inseparably bound to ideals.

Thanks for telling me this small story. Cheers.

It's in-character, too. Seriously, he's The World's Greatest Detective -- he'd have figured out that the more social services there are, and the more economic equality there is, the less crime there is.
